Digipak Deconstruction: Marina and the Diamonds- Electra Heart

  •  Large central image of artist/character- 'Electra Heart', concept album
  • Retro feeling, referencing Marylin Monroe,  colours like technicolour, almost cinematic, continuous theme
  • Very heavy, obvious make-up, hair in curlers- retro actress?
  • Heart on cheek becomes symbol of album anf musical era of artist
  • Image and writing is softened, most apparent on neck and lips
  • Cooper Black font used, repeated throughout album
  • Artist name is in larger writing than album name
  • Writing frames face                   
  • Different image on back
  • Same font, Cooper Black is used, very bold, easy to read
  • Writing is shadowed
  • No track numbers, only the songs are listed
  • Back image, is very 'American'- palm trees, reflects the old-Hollywood style of the artist, emphasis on the cinematic and 'Americana'
  • Bar code and record label can been seen, bottom writing details recording locations and involved producers

  • Inside- another image of artist, but very different, happy and vivacious, contrast to the album artwork, reflecting the different moods/themes of the album
  • Natural/leaf theme from background of image on the left continued underneath CD
  • CD is a one colour, kept very simple
  • Leaflet inside contains all lyrics and two more images of the artist
